FAQS

Do you have classes for different age groups and skill levels?

Yes! We welcome everyone aged 3 and up, from complete beginners to advanced students. Our programs are designed for specific age groups and skill levels to ensure a good fit for everyone. You can check out our program page or reach out to us. We also offer a free introductory trial so you can try a few classes before making a decision.

What types of martial arts do you teach?

We offer classes and individual coaching in Taekwondo, Hapkido, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

How often do students take belt tests?

Students have the chance to test for new belts every two months. This could be for a full belt or just a stripe. Everyone progresses at their own pace, and we’ll let you know when you’re ready to test.

Why is belt testing important?

Belt testing helps students build discipline and confidence. It sets goals, gives them feedback, and teaches self-control and how to perform under pressure. Plus, it’s a fun way to celebrate their hard work with friends! If your student feels stressed about testing, please talk to us, and we’ll support them. Overall, testing is a valuable way to help them learn and grow in martial arts.

How long does it usually take to move up in rank?

On average, it takes about 4-6 months to advance, but usually closer to 6 months. This depends on how often you come to class and how much you practice at home. Beginners tend to progress faster as they learn the basics, while it takes longer to move up at higher levels because the skills are more complicated. We’ll help assess when you’re ready to test based on your skills and understanding.

What safety measures do you have in place during classes?

Safety is our number one priority. Here’s how we keep things safe and positive for our students:

Experienced Instructors: A certified instructor is always present to guide and supervise. We focus on teaching proper techniques to lower the risk of injury.
Spacious Training Area: We limit class sizes so everyone has enough room to move safely.

Gradual Progression: Each class begins with warm-ups and stretching to help prevent injuries. Students practice basic techniques in controlled drills before moving to sparring.

High-Quality Safety Gear: We provide a variety of top-tier protective equipment to keep everyone safe during drills and sparring

Sparring is closely monitored by an instructor to ensure a safe experience.
Clean Environment: The mats are cleaned 2-3 times a day, and restrooms are disinfected regularly to keep things hygienic.
Age-Appropriate Classes: We tailor classes for specific age groups, allowing students to train with peers of similar size and skill

By focusing on safety and proper techniques, we create a fun environment where students can build confidence, develop skills, and reach their full potential.

Do students need to wear protective gear? Is it provided?

At GTFC, we prioritize safe sparring. We offer a variety of high-quality sparring gear to ensure a safe learning environment. Sparring gear is required for students who have reached the yellow belt level or higher, so they can safely practice techniques in live sessions. We’re happy to help find the right gear for you to purchase for your child.

Can parents watch their children in class?

Of course! We encourage parents to watch, but we ask that you don’t coach from the sidelines. Sometimes, well-meaning tips can add pressure instead of support. The best thing you can say is how much you enjoy watching them learn!
